license endorsement after a discipline

I have been a nurse for twenty years. After eighteen years while working in the ER i made a very serious med error that had long term complications for the patient. I was reported to the florida BON. I paid a fine, and took a medication class. My license was never suspended, and i have no restrictions on it. The discipline will be permanently present, but iit is listed as clear. I am interested now in doing travel nursing which of course requires licensing in other states. I am mainly interested in Calif, Nevada, and Alaska. Has anyone tried for licensure in another state after having a discipline?

Each case is considered on an individual basis, only the BON can make a determination in your case. You will be asked to submit documentation.

I would go ahead with securing a license before applying for a travel position, it will be much easier on you.

Generally the Board in your home state will send info about your situation to the requesting Board. If the matter is settled, you can probably get endorsement. I would contact the states where you are interested in going, just to see how things seem...you don't want to pay endorsement fees only to be turned down. Take care!
