lice/nits electronic combs

We recently have an employee with head lice and wants to use an electronic comb. I have not talked with anyone who ever used them or if they worked. I did a ton of research and got conflicting ideas.

Has anyone ever used them and did they work for you or one of your patients?

Based on this I am guessing these combs are not very popular or reliable?

We were discussing this yesterday in lecture. She said that it buzzes un then stops when it finds l/n. It has a comb on it and supposedly works great,,,,but it costs anywhere from 30-50 dollars!! :uhoh21: :uhoh21:

She didn't know whether it worked or not. She said she put out a survey to the local school nurses but got no answers. I'm thinking that it is too expensive for most parents to buy and that is why she hasn't had an answer.

She said they work but she also thought they were a waste of money!!

Hope this helps!!

I have no clue about these combs. I just combed them (nits) out of my son's hair the old fashioned way. Adults are easy to kill off as we know, the nits are another story.

I can't really say how well this work to remove nits from their hair...they are so sticky, like rice. I hope to Heaven my daughter (who has long curly reddish hair to her waist) never gets these things. It was hell enough getting em out of my SON's short hair as it was.

OK, as the mother of 2 elementary- age kids, I am rapidly becoming too familiar with this topic. The electronic comb that is sold locally is about $25, and it will kill live bugs. As far as I could tell, it did not kill viable nits. So, I'm too cheap - I didn't spring for it, but I know people who have. You can use it, but it won't kill everything. And I doubt that a person would be able to really effectively get to all the places that lice would be, depending on the amount of hair that person has. So, no matter what you use, there still has to be the time and labor-intensive NIT-picking. No fun I know. Get a good movie, and a strong lamp, and have a good time. :uhoh21:
