Lewis or Loyola? Cant decide.

I recently was accepted to Loyola's ABSN Hybrid Program for Spring 2020. I am also accepted to Lewis University as a transfer student working towards a BSN (wasnt a fan of the format of Lewis' ABSN). I am a bit torn on which program to pick. I am active duty Air Force about to separate in July and moving back home to IL. This will be my 2nd degree and am excited and ready to start my new career in nursing. From what I've heard both schools are great, with Lewis having the higher NCLEX pass rate. Cost is not an issue with my GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program. With Lewis after my transfer eval I'm looking at another 6 semesters (summer breaks in there) or 3 more years of school. With Loyola I'm looking at 16-18 months so obviously half the time. Lewis I like the idea of starting in the Fall rather than having to wait for Jan for Loyola, I also like the idea of in person classes, but wonder if that will get old too. I also like that the pace would obviously be somewhat slower than an ABSN. With Loyola I like the name its associated with, I like the new Downers Grove facility which looks amazing and love the idea of the flexibility in a hybrid format. My hesitation is the nature of an ABSN, though I know any nursing program is all consuming as well as the hybrid format. Just looking for some opinions if given the choice which program you would chose. Again cost is not a factor and I have enough saved and living at home rent free, so not needing to work during either program too. Thanks and sorry for the long winded post!

I graduated from Lewis quite a few years ago. Their program was difficult but I thought they did adequately prepare me for the NCLEX. PM me if you have any specific questions.

What are the prerequisite for Lewis? I’m trying to get into their nursing program..

I guess it would depend on a few things. You like the idea of starting in the fall with Lewis but you’d likely be in school far longer correct? I’d go with Loyola but another factor would be where you live. Not all clinicals are At the Maywood campus and given Chicago traffic getting up at Dawn to make a 7 AM clinical start time could be pure hell depending on where you’re coming from. if you’re closer to the suburbs I’d say go with lewis even though their clinicals aren’t always in the south suburbs either. Also where are you trying to work when you’re done? I also wasn’t s fan of Lewis layout or the fact you had to take a bunch of classes before you could start (patho, org chem) that other schools didn’t need but that was just me. If you’re good at fast paced and want the clout of Loyola I’d say go with them.
