which level of nursing in aus

i was just wondering what level i would go in at for nursing in australia.

i will be a general registered staff nurse. i have just finished my training and plan to move in within my 1st year of qualification. i took the course at diplomal evel.

come on, chill out you seem to have taken quite an offence to someone that took offence to you...

I took it the same way when reading your reply!

I also was a bit taken back with the post that any qualification will do in Australia, after all, every Australian nurse in the past 20 years has had to go through a university and get an undergrad Bachelor to make it to RN and has worked dammed hard for it. (Not saying that other institutions are easy)

I take offence that the UK does not give reciprical registration to Australian nurses, even with our Bachelor degree, but they do the EU nurses..... maybe its not so bright colonials view still prevails! :icon_roll............:chuckle

And yes we do get paid according to our years of experience, in Vic first is Grade 2, years 1-9, then 2nd in charge, Grade 3, and specialist nurses go on higher grades, but you would have to show work records for the hours of experience to get into the year level. or grad dip or grad certs to show you are a specialist in a field of nursing.

ps I would get a move along, there is talk that skilled migration is going to be cut back.

I mistakenly said "every nurse" I meant to say every Registered Nurse (Division One)

Diploma and Certificate 4 nurses are given their educational through Technical Colleges and some TAFE/ unis and a few private education places, which would be the equivalent I guess, to the UK'S former SEN or USA LPN.
