Ok, thank you! Makes me feel better. It's Loma Linda University Medical Center. I live 20 minutes away from it. I figured since they hire new grads in many of their departments that I should take advantage of it. There are about 4 hospitals closer to me, but I think Loma Linda would be the best experience

yes, that's the facility i thought to which you referred.:wink2:
they can call themselves a level i trauma center even though they are not verified by acs.
below, red emphasis, mine:
http://www.facs.org/trauma/verified.html
the designation of trauma facilities is a geopolitical process by which empowered entities, government or otherwise, are authorized to designate.
the acs does not designate trauma centers; instead, it verifies the presence of the resources listed in resources for optimal care of the injured patient. this is a voluntary process and only those trauma centers that have successfully completed a verification visit...

HI All!
I tried this in the general forum, but no response, thought I might have better luck here.
I am planning on applying at this hospital near me that claims it's a Level 1. Website states:
"and serves as the only Level 1 regional trauma center for Inyo, Mono, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties"
However, I went to the ACS website which states ACS certifies these level 1 hospitals and this hospital is not mentioned anywhere on the list?
What gives?
It's a HUGE medical teaching facility, two helipads, 900 beds, has a lot of specialty services.
I really want to work in the surgical ICU, it seems like they would offer some great experience. Thanks!
