I am currently enrolled in DLSI (wish i had done more research before i did..). I received a letter from DLSI yesterday, that stated the following: "DLSI had learned that Excelsior plans to require additional nursing coursework. You will be required to have scheduled your last nursing course exam before July 1,1915 in order to avoid the additional coursework. Its reported to be 16 weeks nursing course will be required by and taken through EC."
DLSI has told me I need to take A&P, college math, and nursing Transitions. And had to take these classes before i started nursing classes at EC . Now, they are saying I just have to have A&P completed. And the "general education courses could be completed after the nursing core classes."
I'm so confused. I was under the impression that I take all my classes (general and nursing) at DLSI and would only have to enroll at EC for my CLEP.
Can anyone help me understand this?!?!?

I don't know if you've received your answer by now, but DLSI is not affiliated with EC. They supposedly 'teach' you how to study for the EC exams. In essence, they are a publishing company. Excelsior College is the degree-granting institution. Every penny that Excelsior College requires for an education and degree will still need to be paid by you.
Long story short, EC is the college; DLSI is not. Neither is The College Network (TCN), Rue, Chancellors, and any other company that suggests you need to purchase their learning modules costing thousands of dollars. A lot of us EC students and graduates purchased our study materials off eBay, amazon, or study group 101 for under $100. The rest of us went directly through the EC website and purchased the recommended textbooks, while still some simply obtained the the titles and ISBN numbers of those recommended texts and purchased them cheaper, new or used, or rented them through amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-million, etc., for under $50.
But, like you, a lot of us were taken by these publishing companies, too, before we knew better. So don't feel bad. Those marketers have easy access to the BON website (public knowledge) to get a list of LPNs in this country. Once they do that, you will receive that LPN-RN postcard in the mail that makes it sound quick, easy, affordable, and legit.
The information about the 2015 changes are correct. You have to have paid for and registered for those exams by July 2015, but you will still have until December 2015 to have them passed. This is why it is recommended that you set up your free account with EC and check the website frequently for updates that are readily available once you login to your MyEC page. Go directly to the source. Don't wait for second-hand information with a twist.
Very best of luck to you!

You can still finish your degree if you don't have everything done by July 2015, it's just that they are changing up the way they do the exams to include some kind of conference before you can actually take the exam and they will be raising the prices. So if by july you still need one or two classes, don't sweat it, just do it!!!! It's still nine months away.
