I am in California and we had a good soaker overnight into this am. We are not too far from the Bobcat fire so it was nice to wake up without the smell of burning forest. It's mostly contained but may continue to burn for months and as it burns down into the debri of the forest floor and burns under ground only to pop up at a new location. Our state government and has truely mismanaged our forests which lead to this happening.

TY - I'm glad for y'all out there! Just to say, it's nice to know IN GENERAL, from where someone hails. I did read a comment that now western residents may have to fear mudslides & flooding because of such rock-hard non-absorbent ground. So glad for the rain!
I just find it sooooo hard to believe that something can't be done to manage such terrrrrrible droughts. Like the Pacific is RIGHT THERE, just ready to be tapped into. I'm sure with all the technology out in the world, couldn't they just desalinate the water, and then pipeline it in??? I remember something from 1950s grammar school about silver iodide used for cloud seeding to make rain.
But no .... somebody's prob making BIIIG money from the drought! I can think of a few.
