Lehman College CUNY BX

Published

Hey I have an appointment with the school tomorrow for direct admission. I go to another CUNY, Laguardia CC, and was wondering if the transcript ordering between two CUNY schools is fast? I ordered it on the 5th of July. Part of the required documents are my transcripts. Also, because CUNY doesn't give official transcripts physically to students, I had to send it to Lehman's Office of Admissions. So I won't have them personally on hand, but is it usual for schools to get in contact with their admissions department to pull it up when I have my appointment?

Hi there! I am from Hunter and also applied to Lehman as a transfer student. I have been a CUNY student since 2009 (long story, don't ask lol), and so far I did not have to actually order a transcript. It is a CUNY system so once you apply for transfer, the school you applied to will have access to your transcripts through their system. Unless, you apply to a school other than CUNY, you do not have to request a physical copy of the transcript.

However, I have thought, are you applying as a transfer, or are you applying to Lehman's nursing program? If you are applying to the nursing program, then yes, you need the paper transcripts. However, the application cycle is closed to apply to nursing program, so you must be just transferring.

yes just to the school itself. im going to take the remaining prereqs there at Lehman if I get accepted as a transfer student.

My cumulative gpa isn't great (2.5 with 28 credits). I have to retake Microbiology and Chemistry because I didn't study hard enough and got Cs in both of them. How does Lehman evaluate transfer credits and retaking classes? Will it replace the grade with the highest, or average the two together?

I should note here are some classes I've already taken:

A&P I A-

A&P II B

Eng 101 A-

Statistics 101 A-

Psych 101 A-

Microbiology (will have to retake) C+

Chemistry (will have to retake) C-

and some other non-related nursing classes.

Hi, you can go ahead and retake those C courses. However, this is what it states in their brochure: "Minimum Grade Point

A minimum grade of C (73) or better is required in each of the pre-requisite science courses, and a MINIMUM CUMULATIVE INDEX OF 2.75 or greater in these courses, or their equivalents, is required to submit an application for admission to the generic program.

PLEASE NOTE: Although courses can be repeated in accordance with college policy, for consideration in determining admission to the Nursing Program the first grade earned will be used to determine eligibility." So, yeah, if Lehman is the only school you are applying, then do not waste your time and money retaking those courses. In actuality, you do have a minimum grade of C, so you are good to go. The question is, are you competitive enough?

Also, your GPA you mentioned is 2.5. What I think you can do is still retake those two courses, get a B or an A, so it can boost your GPA. Yes, Lehman will not consider the retakes, but those courses WILL boost your GPA.

Okay thanks for clarifying that for me. I think I might have to retake Chemistry because I received a C-. Tomorrow I'll find out for sure. Wish me luck!

I'm a little late but the C- is a little concerning. I've spoken to advisors at Lehman and have been told that they will not look at your second grade. That C- is what they are going to look at. Which is why some students withdraw if they feel like they aren't going to get over a B. You can make up a Withdraw grade but you can't make up a C- when it comes to Lehman (and Hunter too). Like FutureNurseInfo said, don't bother re-taking them if you're only applying to Lehman. They don't count. However, other schools will gladly accept your better grade or average the two in.
