Leaving travel nursing

Published

Specializes in Cardiac tele, stepdown.

I am leaving the travel life for now anyway. I am taking a permanet position in ICU which will be a new experience for me.

Travel nursing has been fun but with the down turn in the economy the jobs have been hard to find.

Plus I figure if I can get ICU experience under my belt then I am that much more marketable!!!:yeah:

There are still many places to go and so many things to see!!!

I have learned so much over the last 3 1/2 years but it will be nice to settle for awhile. (I think?!):D

how long were you a nurse before you started travel nursing? just curious.

I had been in nursing for about 12 yrs when I went into traveling. I have been a nurse now for 16 years!!!

I LOVE nursing and all the many areas you can work!!:loveya::nurse:

I would love to do travel nursing when I get my license. I believe some companies allow you to start after 1 or 2 years experience. Good luck in ICU.

Love to Dive,

I think you leaving travel to go to ICU is a good move, that experience WILL make you more marketable. I did 1 year in MICU right after nursing school, but found that it wasn't for me, however I wouldnt trade the experienc and knowledge gained for anything. GOOD LUCK
