Leaving new current job for new one

Published

Hello,

I’m a new graduate nurse who has recently started a job at a small clinic. I graduated in May and passed my NCLEX in September. I recently started in the OB/GYN of division of this health center a few weeks ago back in the ending of December. I applied to many jobs before this and did not hear back from hospitals. I graduated with a 3.46 GPA overall and I had no prior nursing experience, so I understand that I was not the most competitive  candidate. I got my current job with the help of a friend and so far it’s going well. However, last week I heard back from a residency that I applied to back in November and they have an interest in me. We are still in the first steps of the process but if I do get the job, should I leave my current one. My current job is going well and so far I enjoy those I work with, however  not using too much of my acute nursing skills that would be used in a hospital. I mostly fax charts, assist in procedures, and give vaccinations and contraception. If the opportunity  arises, should I leave my current job and how can I do it gracefully without burning bridges? I’m still in the training period of my current job.

You would simply give two weeks notice. You don't have to say anything other than that you are giving notice and thank them for the opportunity.

If you want to move on to do more advanced nursing roles, being in acute care will be important.
