Hello, I’m a new graduate nurse who has recently started a job at a small clinic. I graduated in May and passed my NCLEX in September. I recently started in the OB/GYN of division of this health center a few weeks ago back in the ending of December. I applied to many jobs before this and did not hear back from hospitals. I graduated with a 3.46 GPA overall and I had no prior nursing experience, so I understand that I was not the most competitive candidate. I got my current job with the help of a friend and so far it’s going well. However, last week I heard back from a residency that I applied to back in November and they have an interest in me. We are still in the first steps of the process but if I do get the job, should I leave my current one. My current job is going well and so far I enjoy those I work with, however not using too much of my acute nursing skills that would be used in a hospital. I mostly fax charts, assist in procedures, and give vaccinations and contraception. If the opportunity arises, should I leave my current job and how can I do it gracefully without burning bridges? I’m still in the training period of my current job.
