leave an office for nights in L&D?

Published

Hi all, I am brand new to the forum, but am hoping for some input! I have been an LPN for 22 years, and have seen the LPN's here in central VA forced

out of nursing-mostly landing in LTC places and offices. Any way I have a chance to get back into the OB setting- but it would be nights.......the night

lpn is going to 3-11....I have been in my office for 7 years and am so DONE!

I worked in peds and OB many years ago----do I go to nights? I have two

girls 18 and 17 getting ready to go to nursing school themselves....and a great husband. I need some decision making help. Thanks , Scarlett

Wow i am also from Central Va and just starting nursing school at Germanna on June 1. The L&D is where i want to be. Is this a passion for you to be in L&d? I think if it what you want and your family supports you in it then go for it.Although i have never worked nights so i guess i cant make your decisions and good luck in what you decide.

AFTER WORKING 11-7 FOR ALMOST 17 YEARS, I AM SOOO DONE WITH THAT. NOTHING WORSE THAN TRYING TO SLEEP WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS ON DAYLIGHT. IF YOU DO TAKE IT, DOES IT HAVE TO BE 5 NIGHTS A WEEK? THINK LONG AND HARD, BECAUSE THAT SHIFT IS VERY HARD ON YOUR HEALTH.

that's the thing....there is so much I don't know.....I will find out more on Monday....it

could be a wash....or....

If it was nights or LTC, I'd go nights...

If it was nights or LTC, I'd go nights...

no it's night shift in labor and delivery.......(which is REALLY hard for an LPN to get into here in VA) or stay where I am and I am ready to move on!

Scarlett

I meant Ii'd work nights anywhere rather than go back to LTC....

Oh........gotcha! Thanks for replying.......wonder if there is a website with nightshift ideas and such......?
