I am curious about the difference in how you are expected to learn in nursing school vs. high school. In high school, it was mostly memorization with little application in classes like algebra and government. I did not do the greatest in those courses. Now, I excelled in courses that were more hands on or where we practiced in class (biology, spanish, art). What has been your experience with your learning style and nursing school thus far?

Nursing school is much more about analyzing a scenario and applying information than memorizing and regurgitating. You may want to check out adult learning theory or differences between andragogy and pedagogy. Sounds like you also realize that there are different learning styles and how you differ with type of class. You may want to take a learning styles inventory- my personal favorite is VARK, which (if it's still the same as when I took it a few years ago) gives you ideas on how best to study based on your results.
Thank you, I will check it out!
