I am finishing up nursing school and am doing my leadership in the ER. I am needing to do a poster and teaching for the staff of the unit during my rotation. Does anyone have any good ideas on topics? Thanks

Are there any topics about which you are particularly knowledgable?

The best educational topics reflect the needs and/or wants of the staff. Just as you would not do interventions for a patient without first assessing the patient's needs, you should similarly assess the staff's educational needs.
I suggest asking the staff about their needs ... talking with their educator (who may have done a more formal educational assessment recently or have some good suggestions about what would be useful.)
If no one has anything to suggest to you, I suggest something on the influenza pandemic. They'll be flooded with patients soon with that.
Thanks for the recommendation. As someone who has worked in ICUs as a tech for many years, I am largely unfamiliar with the ER world. It is of much interest to me and since the opportunity arose, I thought I would jump on it. I was just wondering what some topics staff nurses have seen out there to maybe bring some ideas to my preceptor or staff educator.
Thanks

How about a Stroke alert teaching packet? Last time known well, if they are in the window for tpa, if they need a dysphagia screen and how to do so. How to mix tpa if needed, neuro screen, history...
Or the same for a STEMI alert...
