How're you guys doing? This is my first time posting so be nice to me please. hehe. Anyway, do you have any advice on what I should be doing now that I am in my last semester (15-month program) of LPN school? I will be graduating in January 2008. I am so excited I cannot wait. So, should I start looking for LPN-RN bridge, start looking for an employer, start reviewing for the nclex, and do anything else? or just relax because I am so exhausted with all this schooling. I would appreciate any input you can give me. Thank You....

P.S. I have an associate degree in Computer Science, does any know if any RN program gives extra transfer credits for having an A.A.S? I have most of my pre-requisites for the RN. I just have to take APII and Micro. Thanks.

Also, do you guys think my Computer Science degree is a waste because I never even had a job that is related to it? I got that degree in 2004 when I was 21 years old. I don't know I feel like I just wasted my 3 years getting that degree. I could have had my BSN already by this time if I had just listen to my mom when she was telling to take nursing right after high school. Anyway, that is the past and I am happy that I would be a nurse real soon...Thank You guys....

Soon to be LPN, (yay)

ahhh, we have no reason to be mean, you're very welcome here!;) i would start looking for employers and lpn to rn programs, both are good ideas, you can also work as a gn (graduate nurse) on a limited permit, while you wait to take the boards! start looking at employers and schools now just so you find the right places!! good luck!

Thank You...I was just looking online the other day and I found out that the minimum salary in my area (Central New Jersey) is 21-24/hr at LTC. I'm so exicted. Wow you're only 19 and already a nurse? Cool. You are my new idol... ;)

Thanks,

First off congratulations for making it this far!! You are almost there.

I agree with gt4everpn, I would get a job now. That way when you do pass your N-Clex it will be nice transition into an LPN job with the facility you are already at.

I also don't believe your pre-existing degree is a waste of time. The more degrees you have the better it looks on a resume. I don't feel that any college education is a waste. Plus, your computer skills will come in very handy especially with the way things are steadily getting more and more technological and computerized in the work place.

Im not sure how it is in NJ but here (OK) with the pre-existing college credits I had, I was considered a senior at the university I applied to.

Thank You SW. I am currently working now at a dialysis facility. I have beeen working full-time and full-time of LPN school. I dunno how I manage to do it so far. But LPNs are not treated well here in my clinic because they are just like the PCT who can assess. And also no IV push so there is really no need of LPNs in dialysis clinic. PLus, I like LTC. I really like working with the geriatrics patients. Anyhoo, I really like everything about computer and I also like nursing. And yeah it is vey useful because I tend be savvy when it comes to technological stuff. Just the other day, we were doing reasearch in the library on the internet about culture in my BSS(Behavior Social Science) class and some of my older classmates were not that familiar with the computer and the internet so I gladly helped them. I am just so excited to already start as a nurse. Just a thought occured while typing this. What do you think about this idea? First I will do my ADN/ASN(1-2 years) first through bridging or Excelsior. Then I will get my bachelor's ( 2 years cuz I already have an associate) in Computer Science because I really liked computer as well. Then do the MSN since I already have a Bachelor's, I can skip the BSN and go straight to MSN. Wow so much schooling. What do you guys think?? Thank YOu,....
