last minute Holiday schedule changes

Whew, I just got off the phone with my NM and I feel like I did a couple rounds with Sugar Ray in the boxing ring. Our December schedule has been out for two weeks and based on it everyone including myself had made their Holiday plans. I am sure you all have experienced the last minute emergency where a fellow employee has an health or family problem and can't work their Holiday schedule. So anyway, I have a lot of pressure on me to change my schedule because I am casual. Fortunately, I am pretty good at protecting my own interest and we managed to work something out that does not do serious damage to my Holiday plans and at the same time helps out the unit. Like I have said many times in past the key to job satisfaction in my case is scheduling, scheduling, scheduling. If I would have done what the NM wanted me to do my Christmas plans would have been destroyed. However, I am willing to give a little and if a few other people do it should be covered.

Hopefully, everyone will have your good attitude: willing to give a little bit, but not all. Management certainly will take advantage of anyone willing to give all. Kudos!

I'm kind of bummed that I volunteered 12 hour nights xmas eve and xmas day because with his new job dear spouse has xmas off and is going to be alone. :)
