Hello!
So...you have to endure the awful, dreaded and seemingly neverending Medical Surgical Nursing Class?...Ok...this is where you take a deep breath and try to clear your mind for what you are about to deal with. Please don't let this class intimidate you! Being that you have already taken this class before, see this time around as a "refresher". You can do this! Do not walk into Med Surg with a defeated attitude!
I am not sure how you have studied in the past for this class...but I can tell you how I studied and what worked for me. In order to pass Med Surg, I had to ditch the textbook! it was virtually impossible to read chapters in that awful textbook. The chapters were to long, boring and had what appeared to be size 2 font.
I survived med surg by reading
- Mary Hogan's NCLEX Comprehensive Review for the RN
-Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX Review
I read these textbooks and answered as many questions as I could.
This helped me out tremendously.
-I will admit, I began the semester by trying to tackle the reading in my required textbook. I was afraid to close my textbook and read from another book...however this worked! Try it for the first exam...it might work for you also!
Good Luck! You Can do it!!!!

Great advice. I too survived med surg by using mary hogan. It helped so much. This semester I'm also going to use the mary hogan pharmacology ( since that is my weak area).
OMGEEE!!!
I'm sitting @ my desk smiling from ear to ear! I want to thank you all for the wonderful words of encouragement! I just so happen to have Both the Mary Hogan Reviews and Rationales for Med Surg, as well as the Latest Saunders Book. With these 2 books and all the Splendid Motivation from this Forum, how can I go wrong?? I attend Rockland Community college in New York. Wishing everyone a successful semester, God Bless!!
