Lasalle, Montgomery Hosp. Program??

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hi, I was looking for information on the LaSalle/ Frank J. Tornetta Montgomery Hospital program. Has anyone gone through or know somebody who has. I applied and I am waiting for my call (hopefully) for an interview.

I was also wondering how you know if the program is good or not? There board pass rates are good, is that a good indicator? Any information is helpful. TIA

Hello,

I applied there and was accepted, but turned them down. They pick classes WAY ahead of time - because they want you to have all the core MSN classes done before starting the anesthesia portion of the program. I interviewed in Nov, and was accepted for the class starting in Fall 2010. The time frame just didn't work for me, as I am not from the area and would have to move away from my husband for that much longer. I think there are 7 classes total to take, and you are only allowed to transfer 3 from another school. The interview was laid back, no clinical questions. The program director is great, and the program seems like a good one. I know it has a excellent reputation. I really killed me to turn them down, but it just wouldn't have worked out for me. Good luck!

Jen, Thanks for the reply. I just got a phone call today :yeah:for the June interview. What was the interview like. How are you able find out if they have a great reputation? This is the only school I applied to and it is also the closest to my house. Only 45 min away. The program will actually be good for me to satrt on 2010 because my little guy will be kindergarten by then. Any information would be wonderful. Do you know where you are going? Good luck!

I have an interview at Tornetta in June as well. I have heard good things about this program, but the long wait to start is definitely a negative. Ideally, I'd love to start in the fall of 2009.

Do they definitely want you to have all the masters classes done, or do they just want you to start on them?

They want the classes finished.

I actually decided to email the director of LaSalle's masters program and she told me that they are flexible on it. She did say, though, that you must have 3 of the classes complete, but I can't recall which ones at this moment.

They say they are a 27 month program, but requiring 7 classes to be complete before you even start technically makes it a 39 month plus program.

I would just check with the PD there. I seem to remember them stressing in the interview they wanted them DONE, that's why classes are chosen so early. I could be wrong....

Bumping this up as my interview is approaching and I am getting nervous.

I got the call from Montgomery/ Tornetta two days ago. The department secretary told me that the next round of interviews will be starting sometime in the Fall of 2008 and will be for students to start Fall 2011. I was asked if I still wnated to interview and was told I will be called "at a later date" to schedule.
