Lansing Community College 2011 Nursing Program

Published

I am starting at Lansing Community College for the Summer 2011-2012 Program does anyone know of the schedule or about how many days a week you go to classes and have clinicals. I am doing the advanced standing LPN-RN Fast Track program.

I don't know about Lansing CC but the evening/weekend program at the CC I attended had classes 1 or 2 nights each week (varied by semester) plus 6 to 8 hours of clinicals every weekend (both Sat & Sun) for 4 semesters. That was for the 4 required nursing classes, meaning that you've gotten all the pre-reqs out of the way. We also had an additional nursing elective that most took over the summer, again 1 - 2 nights (depending on which session) - no clinicals but Sim Lab time (again depending on the course). The day students took the same classes for the same length of time but [obviously] during the day. Ditto for their clinicals. So they were tied up either in class or in the hospital 3 days each week.

The LPN-RN students skipped the first semester which was nursing basics but after that, everything was the same.

Hi,

If you go onto the schools website and to the nursing dept. page there will be a tab on the side that says accepted students. If you look through that info it may help with what your looking for. I looked at the schedule for the FT program and the first few weeks vary but after the clinicals start then its 2 days lecture and 2 days clinicals. Wish I could give you more info on the advance standing but I do hope you can find something useful on there. If not you may want to consider just giving them a call and ask about the times, I'm sure they can connect you with someone who can help answer your questions. The other option may be the orientation... Idk if your program has one but I would assume you will find out everything like that during your orientation.

My guess is since your in the accelerated program its going to be a faster pace. Best of luck to you during the program :)

u may get more info in the mi section :)

Would you mind sharing how many points it took to get into the accelerated track this year?

Thanks :)

Since I am already an LPN I was guaranteed a spot

Hello Ladies:

First off, congratulations to you all, by now most of you have completed the program. I am a nursing student at LCC, and I will be applying to the accelerated program during the Spring 2014. As I was reading your comments, I noticed that there were some mixed feeling and hesitation about the intensity of the 2nd degree program.

I was hoping to get some feed -back form you all as previous students, as to how the fast pace went for you. Would you recommend the accelerated program or not?

Thank you in advance.
