Langara Fall 2016!

Published

I know it's a bit early, just wondering if anyone else has applied for the Fall 2016 term? My application was completed at the beginning of this month, fingers crossed.

Thanks fifi06!! Yes, I am hoping to secure a seat in a BSN program but the Psych nursing is my backup. I am waiting to hear back from Langara, UFV and BCIT :)

Hi Hamster84,

Do you happen to know if it's true that having a bachelors will put one on top of the list or do they look at GPA first then prefer only people with a bachelors?

Also, do you know if the biology 1203 grade is higher than the biology 1103 then they use the higher grade for GPA calculations?

Hopefully we here back from them soon, the wait is killing me haha

Did you apply to any other schools besides Langara?

Hi all,

I applied for Nursing Transition program as my first choice, and my second choice was Nursing program.

I got accepted to the Nursing Transition program for Fall 2016. I got the acceptance E-mail on last Thursday.

When I asked the admissions office, they said the evaluation by the department will take time from early to mid-March.

I think the reason that I got my acceptance earlier is because the Nursing Transition program accepts less number of students compared to the actual Nursing program.(They accept 8 students)

My GPA was based on my five courses (BIOL(the first part bio) , ENGL, STAT,

a language course and the second part bio -these two courses were counted as the two elective courses..

My GPA based on these five courses was 3.67.

They said I should accept the offer in 2 weeks, otherwise the seat will be offered to the other student.

I hope this was helpful. Good luck for all!

I just received an acceptance e-mail from Langara earlier in the week, so you should hear back soon!

Congrats rmkopes! Do you mind sharing what your GPA was?

Also rmkopes, did you get an acceptance for the regular nursing program or the transition program?

Thank you! I sent transcripts from two other colleges, one was 3.81 and the other was 3.27. I'm not too sure what the average works out to be, but I am guessing something like 3.5?

Transition program. I'm already an LPN.

Has anyone else applied to any other schools?

I applied to BCIT and Douglas.. but I don't hav all the pre reqs for Douglas... and was told that Douglas 2017 January intake is already full... for BCIT... application deadline was yesterday.. and BCIT admissions said that it will take 2 to 3 weeks to evaluate all the applicants and make final decision.

I applied for BCIT, UFV and Douglas as well. I didn't get a seat at douglas and am still waiting to hear from the others. I also applied for Psych nursing at kwantlen as a back up and currently have a seat there if I don't get a seat anywhere else. I've never wanted March to come so badly in my life haha!

I only applied to UBC as my first choice and Langara as my second choice. I hope one of them lets me in or else I'm screwed haha
