Any spring 2012 R.N candidates here? I believe acceptance/denial letters are being handed out next week or after.
Eng101,ssy101,ssy240,ssn187,mat106,mat120,scb203,scb204,huc101.
Currently in progress: winter sem: scb260,hua101 then this spring scr110,scr150,eng102,ssy241,scn195, and summer btc101,mat115.
The rest are humanities and social science electives needed when I decide to go to a 4year RN-BSN transition...I'm just so hyped up I'm so prepared.
Lagcc have an articulation agreement with Hunter,York,NYU, and Suny Downstate. I think the reason why they add statistic and comm.health is to have an agreement with Lehman College. I'm torn between SunyDownstate and NYU.
The electives I've chosen are gearing towards SunyDownstate...as for Hunter, I need to take Organic Chsmistry. NYU is expensive and I have to get a merit based scholarship to afford their tuition. Ima post some links later that shows each schools pre.req's
Btw chemistry has one open schedule left..the hybrid one.. I think the code is 1770 on tuesdays..take it coz thats my previous schedule and prof(i cant tell his name here) go to M203 get the application paper..then go to C107 to register on that schedule..you should hurry coz i saw 16 seats have been taken already. Btw Im selling my book as well..lol
Congrats for those who got in. Can you tell me what your pre req gpa was for
scb203
eng101
scc 210
ssy 101
Also what was your overall gpa? What did you hear about the cut off gpa for this candidacy? I applied for LPN candidacy for this coming fall semester with a pre req gpa of 3.6.
eng101 B
mat 106 A-
ssy 101 A
scb203 A-
Because of the B in eng that i transferred in from csi i'm going for lpn first.
usually the cut off for LPN is around 3.4
I dont know what's the cut off gpa yet but I'll ask them this upcoming orientation this January 25th.
I'm under the 2nd method of calculating the gpa which is:
key courses X 2 (4 x 2) = 8
cumulative gpa x 1 ( 4 x 1) = 4
so key courses + cumulative gpa = 12 points
Mine is key courses 3.914 X 2 = 7.828 + cumulative gpa of 3.712 = 11.54
Take note that the last Fall 2011 cut off gpa 2nd method was 11.200
I already knew that I can make it because mine was a bit higher.
i did all of these courses in 2 semesters!
breakdown:
Eng101 = A (4.0) x credits(3) = 12
Ssy101 = A (4.0) x credits(3) = 12
Scc210 = A (4.0) x credits(4) = 16
Scb203 = A- (3.7) x credits(4) = 14.8
-----------------------------
Total = 54.8/ 14(# of key courses credits)
equals = 3.914, now double the key courses = 7.828
Now I was so ambitious and decided to take social science and humanities electives and pray that i get all A's
which I did (luckily!)
Scb204 = C (Anatomy and Physiology II) - i missed 2 quizzes! was sick...
Mat106 = A (Medical Dosage)
Ssn187 = A (Urban Sociology)
Ssy240 = A (Developmental Psychology I)
Mat120 = A (Elementary Statistics I)
Huc101 = A (Speech Communication)
so if I add all of these plus my key course, its called the cumulative gpa = 3.712
(just follow the multiplication and division on the key courses altogether.)
as of now (winter semester), I'm taking Scb260(Microbiology) and Hua101(Intro to Art). Now I'm very relaxed!
Hope this helps.
ps. the 1st method is just the four key courses which is very easy. So if u get all A's, thats 4.0 X 3 equals 12 points!

Oh and one more thing, I'll try to post my experience in clinicals once a week starting this March. Now my major problem are those expensive requirements/items and I'm broke.lol
