LACC v LAVC

U.S.A. California

Published

i recently got accepted to both los angeles city college AND los angeles valley college & upon googling the crap out of both schools to see which one was better i've come up with...

LAVC being the top choice. BUT. i need some feedback on students that actually went to school (either LACC or LAVC).

is LACC really that under funded & under staffed? i want to go there because it's literally two blocks away from my house and i'm going to assume that the clinical sites will be a lot closer too the LACC area.

but if LACC is really THAT bad of a school then i guess i can study during the traffic on the 101. HA!

but really, can you guys HEEEEEEEEELLLPPPP!?

I have until June 12 to decide.

Specializes in Hospice / Ambulatory Clinic.

Honestly the save in commute is worth it.

Can't offer much insight on the better program. Im a student at LAVC-not in the nursing program though. But I do know that the nursing facility is in a brand spanking new building with new equipment. That's all that I can tell you. I believe, though you've already probably checked, that the nclex pass rate is higher at LAVC.

BTW Congrats on your acceptance at both schools. Choices are nice!

Damn what's your secret to getting into two schools? These days someone will be lucky to get into one nursing school rather than two! The clear choice is, LAVC of course! I've been to both schools and I'm currently attending LAVC. I hope you chose LAVC! We have all new equipment not to mention a whole new BUILDING for the nursing department. I have classes in that building and it's great!

I'm just curious about how did you get accepted into 2 schools? Lucky you..what's your teas score and your gpa if you don't mind..I am currently applying in those schools and the letter will be mailed somewhere in December this year. I just want to have an estimate for my own chance of getting accepted based on your experience..Im happy if anybody could share some inputs..tnx!:specs:

Hi Tongie28, are schools taking in consideration the TEAS score? I tought that you just had to pass It? Thanks!

Hi Mamomi! I'm not sure if the schools are interested about the teas score. I hope not just as long as you pass it. Are u also applying in he program with the same schools? Is it really a lottery base in LACC? what about the valley? Thanks!

(Tongie28) Yes, lottery for both schools, after passing the teas test.. I applied in Valley, Lacc, Pasadena, and Glendale.... Schools will start mailing letters of acceptance/rejection by the end of november or the first week of December. How about you?

(MAmomi) I only applied in LATTC, they have waiting list, lacc, and valley. Oh I thought GPA counts in the valley..Are u currently taking classes ryt nw? wer? U have a better chance than me. U applied to a lot of schools. Is this ur first tym? im nervous..gudluck to both of us..

btw mamomi, pls. let me know if u get accpeted in the program..dnt forget to share ur experience. tnx. i'l juz stay home during spring sem at home taking care of my kids..:loveya: (in case I dnt get accepted).

(tongie28) yes, GPA counts, they have a cut score of 80% which is kind of complicated. I am taking US History and p.e. I have mixed feelings, I want to do it, but I am scared too. Sure I will keep you posted, you too pls. ;)
