BTW Congrats on your acceptance at both schools. Choices are nice!

LACC v LAVC
Can't offer much insight on the better program. Im a student at LAVC-not in the nursing program though. But I do know that the nursing facility is in a brand spanking new building with new equipment. That's all that I can tell you. I believe, though you've already probably checked, that the nclex pass rate is higher at LAVC.

Don't know which route to take
If you are self-disciplined the LPN route sound like a good way to go in that you can complete your studies in as little as 3 months. Can I ask you the name of the program and where its located? Blessings O!

GPA
You will do fine. Like the other poster mentioned apply to various programs. Also not all programs use GPA as the primary admission factor. Some school use lotteries. Some will want to know if you have medical experience such as CNA or volunteer experience at a hospital. Check with those schools and see how they admit applicants. Blessings O!

LVN to RN Nursing School in Sylmar, CA
Check with West Coast University. I was just there in December and the rep said that West Coast is moving from its L.A. campus to North Hollywood which would be a stroll from Sylmar. Good Luck. Also check with Pierce College, L.A. Valley College, and College of the Canyons. They might have a LVN to RN bridge. Blessings O!

Question regarding ASN and Army Reserve and Active duty
Dino, do not worry about the age limit! Should you be over the age limit the military, particularly the army, is waiving the age limit. Talk to a health recruiter. Not a regular strip mall military recruiter.

College Network
I would thoroughly check it out with the school that you are thinking of going with online. Not all online programs are accepted or accredited in Cal. Contact the school and ask them are they accredited in California. I do have a friend that got her BSN on line, but she did have get her RN the traditional way.

Medical Missions?
The entire reason I want to be a nurse is just for the opportunity to serve in another country as an RN. I really dont even care what continent i'm on when I do this. I just wanna serve. But mind you, I'm two years away. Check out the World Health Org, OliveBranch Ministries and Doctors Without Borders for starters. Blessings to you!

Another 40-something Newbie - just joined
You will do just fine. I'm a forty something taking my prereqs at a community college. The classroom brain will kick in and you will be just as competitive or more than your classmates half your age. Blessings to you!
