hi I'm applying for the class of 2025. have you experienced any repercussions from the changing of faculty? I'm still anxiously waiting to hear back about interviews

The faculty has actually not changed. They were attempting to get more faculty and there was some contention with university leadership, but the current PD is not leaving and the assistant PD is back in her position. They are hiring an additional clinical coordinator and faculty to help in sim labs.

Specializes in ICU/RAPID nurse.

Hey can any current students answer some questions for me? I can't find any good information on the program whatsoever. Is there extensive travel for clinicals or are they mainly based in Pitt area? Hows faculty? Attrition rate? Are students getting alot of regionals done?

For those that are attending La Roche, was the first year in-person? Also are clinical placements mainly in the Pittsburgh area?

thanks!

Sorry if this if finding you late. There's not extensive travel for clinical. They are mainly based here around the Pitt area. That won't be until year 2 and 3 though. Attrition there's not really been much in that regard. I only know of one person from the previous cohort that left voluntarily. And then no one from our class has really left for any reason. That being said we're just getting going and the end of the semester is when that'll really show. But mostly we're all treading water and juggling all the things. Regionals is something you can ask more specifically in your interview but Dr. Wittebort is working on providing as many opportunities as she can for all of us. There's a certain about of regional blocks we have to performs as a general requirement anyway so you'll get them. Faculty are good. All have their idiosyncrasies and particularities.

The first year is mostly asynchronous but you have to be here because you're on campus at least one day a week. Clincal will primarily be here in the PGH area. I think the furthest we'll have to drive for clinical is about an hour - ish depending on where you live in the city. But I believe Dr. Wittebort tries to be conscientious when and where she can about the travel but that being said you have to be flexible based on what's available with the different sites.
