LA Pierce College Spring 2020

Published

Hi! I applied for the Spring 2020 cycle at Pierce College. Just seeing if anyone else has too? Any news?

Thank you for your response.

How soon the professor could see me in his/her class list ? Before or after orientation?
What math book are we suppose to study ? Any title ? Please provide me with that info.

Catherine,

They usually tell you on the day of orientation depending on attendance. For example, if someone doesn't show up and you're pretty high up on the standby list, they are sure to take you. And even though attendance is complete with the already enrolled students, they may most likely take the top 3-5 on the standby list. To add, we had to study from Henke's Med-Math 8th edition for the first month, however, I'm not sure if they're changing the curriculum for your guys' semester.

Hopefully this helps!

I do not even know where I stand as a standby student. It is not indicted in the letter they sent;I am lost ?

That's weird....have you checked your email?

Of course.It is very annoying.

How many students do they accept per semester in general ? 30 ? 40?

During orientation, they'll provide buckets of information, including information on textbooks, alongside collecting the required paperwork. Most, if not all, of the course will be online. Further instruction will be provided to you then.

What do you suggest us bringing to orientation besides a notebook and planner. And required documents that they mention?

Have you guys turned in all your requirements you're supposed to have done (like your titers, physical exams, required cards, nso, etc.)?

They accept roughly 35ish-40ish students per semester.

I would like to ask if LAPC has a quality Nursing program, or not ? students do not give positive comments or say good things about their program. They said the professors are not good and quality ?
would you consider LACC or LAPC ?

Hey Guys,

For the 2x2 photo prints. Would it be fine to bring 2X3's? The 2x2's are around $12 and 2X3 are a couple of dollars. I'm just trying to save a few bucks.

thanks

Everyone just says that because you technically have to teach yourself most of the time. They expect you to read before you get to class, where they kind of just review what you've already learned. Otherwise, it's easy to get lost because they move quickly through the topics. That being said, even if you teach yourself most of the time, attendance to ALL of the lectures are crucial because they say some material that will definitely be on the exams that are not necessarily in the book and not being in class or clinical will warrant you in getting kicked out of the program. You get the point.

Furthermore, I'm only in one program, thus I have no idea which of the two programs is better out of the two.

Last but not least, nursing school is really hard to get into, so if nursing is what you really really want, then you ultimately don't have a choice unless you're willing to spend thousands of dollars on your education via loans.

I'm just saying that my best advice to you right now is to get into the program first and stay in a program because the first semester itself is tough. I can't even stress how serious you have to be to commit to this program.

I know that you're trying to save a few bucks, but to be honest, that sounds pretty risky, only because they kind of tell you what they expect of you.
