LSUHSC CARE Program Information

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am applying for entry to LSU's CARE program for my accelerated BSN degree in August 2008. I am just getting ready to send my application off, and was wondering if anyone here has done this program, or is currently enrolled in it.

Mainly, I'm curious about the admissions standards. I have always been a very good student, and maintained above a 3.5 in college. I also have an advanced professional degree in another field. I am hoping these things will make me an attractive candidate for the school. I am curious how competitve the program is, especially for someone who is not a Louisiana resident.

Also, I'm wondering what the program is like. I know that it's got to be pretty intense if it wraps up all the nursing education into 18 months. What is a typical schedule like? How many hours a day and things like that?

I'm really excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to reading any responses here. Also, if anyone is currently applying as well, I'd love to connect with you so we can bite our nails together.

I didn't receive any mail today. How about anyone else?

I am sorry for the delayed post. I was at my mothers house and was waiting for my husband to get home so he could check the mail. I got my letter and the response.....I am starting LSUHSC SON in the fall!!!! I am beyond estatic! Check those mail boxes because your letters should be coming soon. :dncgbby: I am happy I finally have a reason to put the dancing baby on a post!

Cool I'm sooo excited for you...well I hvnt received anything yet:-( which makes me real nervous. I don't know if I can wait any longer. Well soon as I get something I will post it. Did anyone else hear something

Congratulations LRMama! I still haven't heard anything either. I have a permanent address in LA and a mailing address in CA so I have been annoying my mom everyday to check the LA mail because I don't know which address it is going to.

The letter I recieved said that I must respond within 10 days from the date on the letter with $50. My letter was dated on April 30. So I am either taking the money tomorrow or Friday just to be on the safe side. My advising will also be done in the middle of June, so if anyone wants to meet up then let me know. I cant wait to meet my future classmates!:D I am also happy I can let my husband relax now that I know I am in. Good luck to all!

LRMama they gave you a specific date for advising?

Yes I would love to meet up when I get my letter and then book flights.

Yea so would I LRMama..I just hope I get a letter today geesh I'm feeling very nervous .

The June session will most likely be a group meeting. We always "advise" and fill out registration as one group. Last year, it was a 3-hour afternoon meeting/get to know you kind of thing along with registration, getting ID's, etc. You'll all probably be together that afternoon anyway. Last year, CARE VII was there (even though they had graduated) and they had planned a bit of a social outing at a bar uptown but it was optional, of course. As always, I know nothing yet, but this is how it went down for us.

Congrats everyone so far!

Hey cpkrn2b2011 is there any order the letters are being.sent out? I haven't received anything yet and some have I'm just real nervous right now. How did it go for ur class?

WEll no mail for me again today everyone o just hope I'm not on the rejection list :-(

Not being mean to anyone here (because I've gotten several inquiries), but I've already said, several times, that I don't know. We're told nothing, seriously. I'm not withholding info here. I just go by what I hear from y'all and what I hear via grapevine. I also give my advice based on what we went through. You may come to find out that things are NEVER consistent around here so, even though I give advice, I always say to take it with a grain of salt because things could (and probably will) change.

That being said, LAST YEAR, acceptances were sent out on 2 dates - one an entire week after the other. My letter was dated April 28 and a friend of mine's letter was dated May 5. We were also given 10 days from the date on the letter to reply. I know about the random order letters were sent out back then only from chatting here and chatting with classmates later in the year.

Just trying to make everyone feel better to know that not all acceptances were sent out at once LAST YEAR - just in case they did things similarly this year. Again, I do not know if this is how things are going this year.

I wish everyone best of luck and congrats and I will continue to offer my advice; however, please know I am only offering my advice from a personal experience standpoint.

Okay, again, I'm not trying to be mean but the last thing I want to do is get into trouble for anyone taking me as a voice of official information.

Hope to see everyone soon!
