LSUHSC CARE Program Information

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am applying for entry to LSU's CARE program for my accelerated BSN degree in August 2008. I am just getting ready to send my application off, and was wondering if anyone here has done this program, or is currently enrolled in it.

Mainly, I'm curious about the admissions standards. I have always been a very good student, and maintained above a 3.5 in college. I also have an advanced professional degree in another field. I am hoping these things will make me an attractive candidate for the school. I am curious how competitve the program is, especially for someone who is not a Louisiana resident.

Also, I'm wondering what the program is like. I know that it's got to be pretty intense if it wraps up all the nursing education into 18 months. What is a typical schedule like? How many hours a day and things like that?

I'm really excited about this opportunity, and looking forward to reading any responses here. Also, if anyone is currently applying as well, I'd love to connect with you so we can bite our nails together.

:crying2:

Just from what you guys have said, it sounds like competition might have been stiff, huh? On the other hand, it looks like they're doing things way different for those who are accepted this year. Hopefully, at least we officers will be in the loop to come and meet you before you start in August! I would love to have a social obligation with everyone in June.

I am so sorry to hear that Clssygrl80.

Hey everybody just wanted to tell you all that looks like I'll be a Care XI hopeful bc I didn't get in. I have to write a letter stating that I want to be considered for Fall 2011 and don't have to send in no extra paper work, but good luck and best wishes to everyone hope to meet up next year.

You are not on the alternate list? I am sorry classygrl.

I'm sorry to hear clssygrl80! I hope to meet you one day.

Congrats to all who have been accepted. I wish they would send ALL the letters out! I'm waiting, hoping people reject their acceptance into the program. I will accept with open arms!

Also, just wondering if anyone is planning on turning LSU down because they have already been accepted somewhere else? Or if you are still waiting for both and LSU is your number two?

I have been accepted to Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico but they are my back up. LSU is my number one.

Not that I wanted a community college but I applied at a couple local schools. Unbelievable what it is like in CA. One school I made 278 on the wait list when there are only 50 slots and the other school had 953 applicants for 60 slots and 75 alternates and I didn't make it. All the community colleges are by lottery so you could apply 10 years in a row and never ever make the cut.

I got into as well but there is no way I want to shell out 36,000 for a year nor do I want to live some place where it is cold and snows.

But LSU has always been my number one school from the get go.

Hey ChanelCinq did you ever receive a letter?

LSU has been my number one from the beginning. Although, I did apply to two other schools and got accepted by both as well. I even have one more final left at Delgado, that now at this point I don't care about because I am going to have to retake the class at LSU. I knew that LSU attracted the brightest and best of all the schools in the area so the competition was going to be tough. I believe that anyone who got an interview alone should feel proud of yourself because you are a shining star.

Thanks LRMama and your so right when I called they said that it was very competitive so I will just try again

Hey ChanelCinq did you ever receive a letter?

Wow I just got home from work and checked the mail and it looks like I am moving to Puerto Rico. I received my rejection letter from LSU in today's mail.

I am really surprised but I am glad it is a rejection letter and not an alternate letter since I am moving across country it would be very hard to find out at the last minute.

I am so bummed but the positive side to Puerto Rico is the program is in English but people in PR don't speak English, even dealing with the school there are a few people appointed to deal with the English speakers. We are required to take Spanish each trimester. So after two years of Spanish and living in a Spanish speaking place I will come back to CA trilingual (my BA is in French).

Well good luck everyone. I'll keep watching this thread to see what is going on. I am curious to see if they are taking less than 50 students.

I am actually quite surprised as I felt I did quite well on the interview. I would love to know if the girl who interviewed after me got in. She looked very drab and had wet hair and she seemed very unprepared.

Anyway good luck everyone!

ChanelChiq, I am sorry to hear about LSU but it sound like you have a great opportunity in front of you. I can't believe how hard it is in CA. I am glad to hear you have so many backups that have already accepted you. Congrats! Just think how great PR is going to be... what an awesome culture you will be a part of!

I wish LSU was more peoples second pick. I know why it's everyones number 1!

I'll just wait and pray..............

o yeah HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY TO ALL THOSE MOMS!!!
