Dear "manager's name":

My name is name here and I am seeking employment as a Staff RN in Labor and Delivery. I have been employed in the Mother/Baby unit since May 2012 where I have gained experience with neonates, women postpartum, and post-surgical gynecology patients. I hold NRP, ACLS and BLS certifications until 2014.

In December 2011, I graduated from an Accelerated program at name of school and town with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I completed a six-week academic internship on a Labor and Delivery Unit in a Magnet Facility in location. This hospital has established Baby-Friendly status promoting breastfeeding and bonding with the newborn.

In addition to my current employment in the Mother/Baby unit, I have experience in social services with the underserved population in town. In this position, I provided high-risk families developmental information and support for children from ages 0-5. Through my professional experiences I have gained the ability to communicate and empathize with diverse populations.

I am applying for this position because I am committed to improving the health of women and their families. This position at name of hospital would allow me to apply and fine tune my skills obtained from employment in the Mother/Baby unit, employment in social services, and my academic internship in labor and delivery. I have been happy with the opportunities that name of hospital provides it's nurses and feel this facility is an excellent fit for me in terms of the community it serves. I am eager to learn and feel strongly that this facility will support me in this process.

I have been eager to work in Labor and Delivery because this unit is dedicated to providing compassionate, family-centered care and I have a passion for women's health. Additionally, this unit provides well-rounded care for both high-risk patients and low-risk patients which aligns well with my own background. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your consideration. You can contact me via email at contact info.
