Krebs Cycle

Anyone have any suggestions about an easy way to keep all this cellular respiration, glycolysis, Krebs Cycle stuff straight? We have an abbreviated time in lecture on these subjects in A&P due to the Thanksgiving holiday (only two lecture periods for a whole chapter on metabolism). Most of the stuff we are going to be tested over is the cellular respiration.

I am pulling my hair out. How am I going to remember/understand all this stuff??? Yes, I had chemistry...it's just SO much info at one time...any tips will be appreciated! Thanx!

But, get out a big sheet of paper and some crayons and draw a picture of it. My micro instructor told us this, but I never did it although I wish I had. It might have helped me understand the Krebbs cyle better.

Good luck!;)

Thanks for the suggestion, Pam. I will do that. Heck, I'd stand on my head and eat pages of my text book if I thought it would help!

:chuckle

I am going to get a jump start on this chapter this weekend. I AM going out tonight with my DH for some much needed stress relief. Maybe a break will give me a whole new fresh perspective on the task at hand.

And, hey, any other suggestions are welcome!

- Look on the Internet for Hole's Anatomy website. They have an outline of the chapter on Metabolism that you can download.

- The outlines contains 2 or 3 charts that cover the Kreb's Cycle.

- Basically, you need to create a chart for each step, that specifies name of step, location, what goes in, what goes out and how much, also a brief description of what happens.

- Get some study guides and look at the review questions. These will steer you towards what concepts you need to know.

John,

Thank you for the Hole's Anatomy reference. I have it bookmarked now and have downloaded the outline. It looks like it will be quite helpful. :)

I have some study guides, but I think those are too simplified for what we are expected to know for this test...at least that was the impression I got from looking at our study guide the prof gave us (word doc with over 100 questions over JUST cellular resp.) and then referencing the guides.

Fortunately, I basically only have to know the cellular respiration info and not so much the nutrition/vitamin/mineral info. We get that in a separate class.

I guess what freaks me out so much is that it has been 20 some odd years since I even remember a mention of the Krebs Cycle, and then it was only a mention, nothing in depth like this. I am sure, as tenacious as I am, I will eventually know it like the back of my hand. It just usually takes me a lot of time going over it and over it again for it to sink in...guess I have been at a loss for where to start with it...but your suggestions really help. Thanks!

Evansville, huh? I have family there...

I just finished a Biology course and we were tested on Kreb's Cycle. We were lucky. We were allowed an "information sheet". This is known as a cheat sheet anywhere else but our teacher and the school board insisted that the students should not be tested on memory skills, but their understanding of the subject. Let me tell you, even with the sheet I had a time!:D

Hello everyone!

I am new to this site, and I think I am going to like it! I need some advise, I am just starting in college well two semesters in, we are on the glycolosis and Kreb Cycle!! you all remember that! There is so much to take in I get a bit confused, any one got any advice or good web sites that have charts to make this simpler to understand....... thanks so much look forward to hearing from you.
