Knoxville Hospitals

U.S.A. Tennessee

I am looking into moving to Knoxville but don't know anything about the area. Any suggestions or recommendations. I am an ER nurse and looking for an ER job. What hospitals are good to work at? What hospitals should I steer clear of? I am looking to move around the south of knoxville, and would include looking towards Maryville, Seiverville, Gatlinburg, southern Knoxville. Any information about the area would be so helpful.

Also, what is the average nursing hourly rate for Knoxville?

Thanks for the input!

Hi fellow ER nurse,

I am interested in Knoxville too. I met the ED nurse manager at UTMC (level I Trauma) at an ENA conference and was very impressed. Pay is quite low $19-22/hr? but sounds like good benefits. My husband isn't convinced to move to the area but if I did, that's where I would go, no doubt.

Both of you guys should really look into Covenant Health (www.covenanthealth.com)! This is a large health system in the Knoxville area with hospitals all around Knoxville, including Sevierville (LeConte Medical Center). Covenant offers great benefits, great management. I have worked for a Covenant Health hospital for a while now, and I really love it!

You are certainly not going to get rich working for any hospital in the Knoxville area - None of them pay very well compared to some other parts of the country. However, the benefit package at Covenant is great, and the cost of living in this part of the country is certainly a lot less than other areas. It is also a beautiful area, with a lot of fun things to do!

when it comes to the benefit package, what do you mean? can you be more specific? sorry , i am newbie. thank you.

I agree with Nurse Annie. Covenant Health is the best to work for. I did clinicals @ UTMCKER & they were rude & unwilling to teach or even monitor a student. Your best bet is one of Covenant's ER's.
