Help!
I am a new nurse trying to get my LPN license. I made a diverting mistake 4 years ago and KSBN is having me go through a KNAP evaluation before I can get my license. I have done my evaluation and I have been clean 4 years.
Any guidance on what you think they'll do?
Also I have family vacations coming up.. do I go before they send me a contract or notify them?

1. How can you make a diverting mistake 4 years ago if you were not licensed as an LPN then? You stated you have done your evaluation, but KNAP is making you have an evaluation? I don't understand? Did you have an evaluation or not, and does KNAP have a copy of whatever eval you did.
2. Why would they send you a "contract"? A contract for what? You stated they wanted you to do a KNAP evaluation? Why on earth would they send you a "contract"? What does that have to do with anything?
3. My advice is this....it looks like, from what I can tell, that you are going to have to undergo a KNAP, chemical substance evaluated at a facility that is approved by the KNAP. If you have been clean, you have no worries. They will likely take a hair test, so that goes back 3 months. I want you to keep this piece of advice near and dear to your heart and remember it very, very well. These evaluations often get people based on alcohol, and not drugs, even if they had a drug problem in the past. They get them on alcohol and the guidelines for determining alcohol problems are very, very tight and strict for these evaluators. If you don't drink alcohol, then say so. If you do drink alcohol, then remember this. You NEVER get intoxicated and you have not been Intoxicated in 4 years, and you NEVER have over 2 drinks per week. Notice I didn't write 3 drinks per week. If you admit to having 3 drinks per week, they will consider you as having a mild substance abuse problem and they will get you. You NEVER have had over 2 drinks of alcohol in one week during the last 4 years, and the most drinks you ever had at one time in the last 4 years were 2 drinks. They will, 2 drinks, that's it? You say, that's correct, if I ever drink alcohol, it's only 1 drink, but maybe once every 5 or 6 months, I will have 2 drinks together and never any more than that, but it's rare.
I'm warning you.......if you use the number 3 or more drinks in one week, or 3 drinks at one time, or admit to intoxication in the last 4 years, they got you.
