Kids have always been my weakness. I love them, but I don't want to be their nurse. To be quite honest, I'm scared of them. And I don't know alot about them. I am a float nurse and sometimes I have to go to pediatric offices and I feel extremely uncomfortable and stupid because I don't know that much about them. I have only given one shot to a child in my whole life, and that was a newborn in nursing school. I don't even know the best places to give shots to them. And there was a big argument today about the proper way to measure head circumference. Any survival tips on kids in the office setting?
And what about needles? When giving a shot to a child or an adult, what is the best size needle to use with which medicines? I am a new nurse, and I feel stupid when I go somewhere and have to ask alot of questions. Any tips on anything, especially injections and meds are greatly appreciated.
