Hey I'm kinda new here, been lurking for a bit and decided to finally sign up! I am starting Keiser's RN program next month and starting to freak out a bit!
First off I did all my pre-reqs there with a 4.0, pretty easy but I did always study! Passed the TEAS first time, that wasn't bad, I reviewed a day or two before. Now after a bunch of paperwork, 9 classes, and 1 yr later I am about to start!
I talked to a friend in the program now and she said the first 4 months, students need to learn the ENTIRE Pearson's Nurse's Drug Guide, Fundies, Clinical Math, and they just added a Nutrition Class ... oh and a lab 1 day/wk and clinicals 1 day/wk after you pass lab quizzes.
I am actually fine with all of it except the entire pharm book! Really? Is that even possible? It's like learning the entire dictionary! I started last night and barely made a dent, despite the notes and reading for hours! Has anyone attempted this in their first month of nursing school? If anyone has learned the majority of the book at some point, are there any good tools you could share?!? :starornament:
Thanks so much in advance!

Hey Tretinoin,
Which campus are you referring to?
I am going to Fort Lauderdale. And I misunderstood my friend, its a different pharm book that is much better!!! LOL I tend to overreact when stressed haha!

Hi there,
I start core in May at the new Miami campus that we move into next week. I have also heard "horror stories" about pharmacology. Are they true? Like you, I have not had any trouble with prereqs or the teas (also passed it the first time with barely a week of studying). Please give me whatever advise you have. Thanks.:)
Well I am 8 weeks into pharmacology and fundies. I have passed all my tests 80% or higher. Pharm was tricky at first because I was trying to remember every single little detail which is too overwelming. Focus on the major adverse effects and nursing interventions. Also don't go crazy with individual drug names, learn the classes and you can figure out the question. I love the school and my teachers! The hardest thing for me is time management. They can give us 7 chapters in fundies, 4 chapters in pharm, care plan from clinical, homework, 2 exams, and a practical lab check off in one week so students have to stick to a study schedule or it is too overwelming being behind. The different classes all build on each other so it's actually a great way to learn! Good luck!!!! :)

You will do great! There is another post somewhere with all the endings to learn the classes of drugs very easily. I went to the MLB campus and it was ok. Wish there was more time to learn stuff.

Hello all. I am new to website, and I have been moved to the May class at Ft.Lauderdale. I was wondering which pharm book Keiser uses so I can start studying:clown: Thanks
Email the professor of the class to see if they can give you the ISBN number for it because they would be the one using the book and teaching out of it. It may or may not changed.
Thank you! I did just that today, and the director did give me the isbn.
Your welcome! Some professors are nice about it. =)
