Keiser University- Fort Lauderdale ASN Program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I will be starting the ASN program in May with Keiser in Fort Lauderdale. Anyone have any tips, suggestions to be prepared for my first semester? Any uniform advice as I am tall and scrub pants are hard to find that fit my size, does anyone know the brand that Keiser uses so I can look elsewhere for the pants?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hello Ladies,

I am working on my last 2 prerequisites and am waitlisted til May 2020. Can you share info about scrubs pls? I would like to start getting stuff early

Happy studying

Scrub pants for ASN are navy blue. The scrub top you have to purchase from bookstore and I believe are $16.

@MWM1978 thank you so much! I appreciate that. Do you guys have a what's app group chat or Facebook? Ahhh I see, yeah I work in a hospital per diem so thankfully I shouldn't have a problem with my work and school schedule. However, I do have two boys ages 6 and 2 at home that keep me busy also so I will definitely need to get daycare situated for my youngest and maybe some after care program for my oldest when he returns to school.

Each cohort does their own WhatsApp so it is focused on just who is in that group.

When you begin your term get with us and we can help take some of the pressure off by directing and guiding you so it is less stressful.

Rrecommended list:

Rolling bag (save your back)

Good shoes (all white; no color)

White under shirts (scrub tops are see through)

Multi colored pen with pencil in it too (look on amazon) if you can't find they seel them at target but $6 a pen

LOTS of highlighters; binders; dividers

Whole punch

Stapler

Black pens

Planner - get a good one with times

White socks (you are only allowed white that come over your ankle)

Hair accessories have to be white or navy blue

If I think of more I will post lol

Hi,

Keiser has a waiting list?

@Bredget @MWM1978

Quick question: Did you guys purchase any books for the TEAS test preparation? Or did you only use the free practice links provided by Keiser? I went and got myself registered today at Keiser and will be returning on Monday to meet with financial aid. Any tips on the TEAS and Wonderlic test? Unfortunately I scored a 19 on that and need to retake ?

I just used the online Free Teas practice myself. So glad you got registered and just stay positive and confident. We will be in clinicals on Monday but good luck and wish you the best. I don't really have any tips for either of them as I only knew about the TEAS when I went in it and I took the wonderlic on the spot during my visit but realized after I took it that I didn't have too... LOL

You can probably look up wonderlic online and see if there is anything that will help you. I believe you have to score at least a 20 (but don't quote me on that), if that is the case you are right there!

Who is your advisor you're speaking with? They are all super nice anyways, just was curious.

My name is Bredget Whisnant and I am on whatsapp if you would like to send any messages, I really don't mind. I am kinda the momma bear of our bunch... LOL

I passed the Wonderlic today!! ? Now I have to go and take the TEAS so that I can schedule my interview and get in the waiting list. I am looking at starting in May or August the latest is what I was told. I wish I could have started in January but it's okay.

Good luck on the TEAS. From what I was told the passing score was 60. Don’t panic. You will know how you did before you leave the classroom. Then schedule the entrance interview. I am waiting for a May start date and hoping for an actual January date. Are you going to the Ft. Lauderdale campus?

Thank you! Yes Ft. Lauderdale is closest to me, is that the one you are going to also? I will use those free practice links I was provided with for the TEAS but I'm still contemplating whether I should still purchase a TEAS study guide book one that is close to the questions that are on the exam, hopefully.

Also, may I ask which prerequisites you are taking now? I am going to take Anatomy & Physiology 2 at Keiser in July. Do you or anyone on here happen to have the book that is utilized in Keiser for that class? Or know what the exact book is?

TIA!!

That is awesome!! Be prepared. I wasn't suppose to start until Jan 2020 and I started May 2019. Do your Teas and get your interview out of the way ?

congratulations ?
