Keiser University- Fort Lauderdale ASN Program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I will be starting the ASN program in May with Keiser in Fort Lauderdale. Anyone have any tips, suggestions to be prepared for my first semester? Any uniform advice as I am tall and scrub pants are hard to find that fit my size, does anyone know the brand that Keiser uses so I can look elsewhere for the pants?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hello,

i don’t have any info to share because I am starting in May, as well. I am seeking info about he program too (such as, class time), let me know what you find out. I will be following this tread and will provide info as well.

Hey congratulations,How much does the program cost? I’m interested in applying to the ABSN program.

Both ASN and ABSN cost approximately 10,200

Per semester that is. Overall at least 40k for the program. I chose to attend the school because I plan to apply for tuition reimbursement; I received a 25% discount off the tuition because I work in an acute patient care setting; I didn’t have to take an entrance exam; I applied for scholarships and have been granted one so far which assisted tremendously with some of my tuition. Apologies for the two part response.

@MWM1978 May I ask why you didn't need to take an entrance exam? I also work in the medical field so I was wondering if maybe I can be exempted from taking the entrance exam also? Have you started the program yet? How is it so far? I plan on applying to the fort Lauderdale campus also.

I began the ASN program in May and so far it is going good. Your first semester is Fundamentals of Nursing and Pharmacology. Hours for classes are typically Monday clinicals (after week 3) 6:30-4:30; Tuesday 8:30-12; Wednesday 8:30-12, tutoring for both classes 1:30-3:30; Thursday 9-3; Friday times vary each week. LOTS of studying, we have quizes or exams twice a week. It is a lot but if you put forth an effort and study hard you will do great!

Great thank you for the information!! Do you guys need to take a hesi exit exam for each class once your finished with them?

Not that I am aware of but I am in first semester. It is my understanding at the beginning of each class you have a pretest and at the end a post test. But I don't believe a hesi exam at the end of each.

Good morning maugustin,

I was exempt from taking the TEAS because I have a BS and Masters degree. Working a the hospital helped in receiving percentages off my tuition. As far as, the program overall Bredget has explained the process very well. We are in the same Cohort. Lol. LOTS of studying for sure.

The one thing I do differently, is that I work on the weekend. It is stressful to do both but I’ve been managing so for. I only work weekends, but I’m literally out of my house 7 days/week and I have two children under the age of 18 at home. I wish I had weekends off because you have to stay ahead in this program and there always homework, lessons on ATI and studying.

You can reach out to Bredget and I at anytime.

Hope this helps.

@MWM1978 thank you so much! I appreciate that. Do you guys have a what's app group chat or Facebook? Ahhh I see, yeah I work in a hospital per diem so thankfully I shouldn't have a problem with my work and school schedule. However, I do have two boys ages 6 and 2 at home that keep me busy also so I will definitely need to get daycare situated for my youngest and maybe some after care program for my oldest when he returns to school.

Thanks for clarifying that for me @Bredget ?
