KCl, Enoxaparin, & Side Effects

Published

Hey there,

I'm working on an assignment in an incredible vague workbook and I was wondering if I could get some input from any of you. Here are the questions I'm wrestling with...

#1

IV administratino of digoxin creates a greater risk than IV administration of KCL? True or false?

#2

The physician has ordered enoxaparin 40mg subQ. The administration of this medicatino will require a ____ gauge needle?

#3

When preparing to administer the enoxaparin, you may use a _____ to _____ mL syringe.

(But what the heck, it comes in a prepackaged 40mg/0.4mL syringe)

#4

Headache, chest pain, and difficulty breathing can be side effects of ondansetron. If your client develops any of these, what would you do?

#5

What should be checked before beginning to remove medications from the dispensing system? Select all that apply?

A. Client's fluid intake for last 8 hours

B. Client's vitals signs at 0700

C. Client's MAR

D. Client's activity order

E. Client's allergy record

Thanks for the help.

How do you get the answers to the question?

Specializes in Emergency.

Tell us what you have so far for answers and we'll be glad to help you from there. So far it looks like were just doing your homework for you ;)

Specializes in Step-down, cardiac.

For 2 and 3, I want to say, "But it comes pre-packaged! You don't pick anything!" and for 5, I really want you to write in, "It depends on which damn med I'm pulling!" :) Seriously, though, those questions are awful.

#2: think about where you will be injecting the med. Have you learned about needle gauges yet?

Also, I think some students make the mistake in believing that they will find the specific answers to specific questions all neatly presented in their texts.

You may have to research in several places in order to put all the info together and get your answer.
