Kaplan University in Pennsylvania

Published

Hey everyone. I've been searching the forums and can't find exactly what I'm looking for. My wife and I are considering moving from Oklahoma City to Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas. I've been a RN (ADN) for about a year and a half and my wife has been a LPN for about the same amount of time. What I'm mainly wondering is does Pennsylvania recognize a BSN from Kaplan University (they're accredited by CCNE) for their nursing program; and they're working on their CCNE certification for their NP program. I don't want to pay for a BSN and possibly a NP that I can't use in certain states (don't want to limit myself).

Searching the Pennsylvania BON website is confusing me more than helping I think. Does anyone have a degree (either BSN or NP) from Kaplan who could chime in?

Thanks in advance, hope this post makes sense. Want to get started ASAP but again, don't want to pay for something I can't use.

Have a great day!

MIKE

I don't attend Kaplan, but I would highly recommend you go somewhere else. Their nursing program may be accredited, but the fact that almost all their other programs aren't is a huge red flag. I have also heard that they do not set up your clinicals and it is hard to get any hospital to allow you in individually. Also, before you do anything make absolutely sure that the credits you take there will, in definite fact, transfer to an np program. (Meaning research this and don't trust the people in admissions.) There are many other schools that offer excellent programs that you may want to look into.
