Kaplan University - Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner

I am currently researching online schools, and was curious if anyone knows about Kaplan University and their post masters certificate program for Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner? I have read quite a few mixed reviews about this school. I graduated with my MSN from University of Phoenix last summer. I am aware that University of Phoenix also has a great deal of mixed reviews, but I was quite pleased with the experience. I feel that you get out of an education as much as you put in. I am thinking this is the same with Kaplan. Looking for any thoughts or opinions. Thanks:up:

I have been going to Kaplan University since 2008 and now will graduate with an AGNP( was FNP but unable to locate preceptor for PEDS. I have not had a problem with anyone at this school, but having difficulty with clinical sites. I don't know of any school that finds sites.

Hi, I start the adult-gerontology program in July, 2014 at Kaplan. By far the easiest admission process I have experienced. I look forward to the classes.

How many classes R U taking and how long will it take to complete program?

No they are 10 week courses.

Also, if you already have your MSN you will be required to re-take a Capstone course.

My experiene with Kaplan has been extremely negative thus far. I only have three classes left, or I would switch out elsewhere. This has been a complete nightmare.

Hi SweettartRN, I too am currently enrolled in Kaplan's FNP program since July 1013. Will just be starting my NP courses here in November so I don't have any experience with seeking out clinical sites/preceptors but ARNPs are highly utilized in the state I live so hoping it won't be too bad. I was just wanting to hear a little bit more about why you say your experience has been all negative and nightmarish? How do you feel about your clinical performance and what feedback have you received from your preceptor(s)? I appreciate your feedback.
