Hi there,

Kaplan strategies is helpful. I do not have the lippincott SATA book, but I'm curious to see what others have to say.

Happy studies!

thinkin of buying kaplan strategies review and questions book.. and lippincott SATA book.. what do u think of it guys..let me knw[/quote'] hey I don't have any of these but somebody recommend me to buy lippincott's SATA n I went to barn n nobles to take a look at it but don't really like it,rationales draw not details n the questions look like similar to other books,so me too thinking buying Kaplan strategy book.Any other suggestion guys, what do u think about Davis's RN success?

I feel as though Kaplan Strategies is a good book. I suggest you see if your library has a copy of it. I was able to borrow this book from the library.

Kaplan Strategies teaches you about the Decision Tree and other strategy related things you would get from a Kaplan Review Class. I took the Kaplan 2 week course and had access to Kaplan On Demand, and I feel the Kaplan Strategies book is like a condensed version of the 2 week course and On Demand.

If you can't afford to do that other Kaplan related things, I think the Strategies book is pretty good. I feel for the NCLEX, it will help you on questions where you don't know the content well or really don't know how to approach the question. However, I feel you also need to have a strong content background as well.

Do some self reflection in what you think you need to improve on and your studying for the NCLEX. Is it content or strategies or both? Also, what kind of learner are you? Visual, auditory, tactile?

I didn't use the Lippincott alternate format question book but I did look it over in the bookstore. It is a thin book that does have SATA in it but also a lot of other alternate format questions like graphic, charts, etc. I think it would be a helpful book for alternate format questions, but I don't really know since I didn't use it. I found the Saunders CD SATA to be helpful, I really liked their rationales. I also looked at Davis Q and A by Ohman. That book/CD had a lot of alternate format questions and SATA that are considered "harder" questions. I was able to borrow this book from the library.

I notice that you are making some topic posts, and I would recommend that you search your questions in the allnurses Search bar first. There have been many posts in which people have done their own reviews on NCLEX study materials and many posts where people give their feedback on things like Kaplan, Saunders, NCSBN review, Hurst, Davis, etc. I found those posts to be very helpful.

Happy studying!
