I TOOK THE KAPLAN PRE NURSING EXAM AND SCORED AN 85 OVERALL. I SCOURED THE INTERNET AND MOST OF THE KAPLAN EXAM THREADS ARE OLD. I HAVE A LOT OF INFO TO SHARE SO JUST REPLY ON THIS THREAD AND I WILL TRY TO RESPOND TO YOU! LET'S FINALLY HAVE A DECENT THREAD FOR KAPLAN TEST TAKERS!

Note: My test was taken in the end of 2019, all the YouTube videos I watched and alnrses threads I've read said the official Kaplan study guide was not helpful (before the new one came out), well Kaplan put out a new 2019-2020 study guide and I used that to study, so ask me about that too if you want! I also have taken the TEAS exam this year as well, so ask me about that too! Anyway go ham, I have a lot of helpful tips for y'all.

Hi, congrats on passing the test! I took the Kaplan last year and failed it. I'm really bad with reading comprehension and writing portion. I'm was never any good at taking these types of tests. It's really hard for me to stay focus and comprehend. Does the Kaplan book really help with those portions of the test. How similar is the layout of the reading and writing sections on the test compared to the study material in the book? Also, what did you use to study for the TEAS test? I have to also take and I've heard that the TEAS is harder than the Kaplan. Any tips would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hi sorry one last question!

For the writing portion, do they have you identify nouns, adverbs, prepositions etc in the sentence? Need to brush up one those lol

Not really! You get a passage and all the sentences/paragraphs are numbered. The questions ask: what word is spelled wrong in a certain sentence, what sentence should be removed and is unnecessary, where this (given sentence) should be placed, what sentence uses punctuation incorrectly, which sentence has improper subject-verb agreement, stuff like that. The Kaplan Nursing Exam 2019-2020 book helps a lot. Know accept vs except, affect vs effect. Know differences from colon, semicolon, comma. Also, google some practice questions online as well.

Okay cool, thank you so much!

I got the Kaplan 2019-2020 book and indeed it is very helpful for reviewing the anatomy/ physiology section. However, I'm really bad with reading comprehension.. I did the diagnostic test but only get about 40 percent right. And I don't think the Kaplan book offer enough practice. What are your recommendation for the reading part? Also, I see the book have a vocabulary and spelling sections are those going to be on the test as well?

For English and writing and solely studied from the Kaplan book for 2019-2020. I did well...so I’m not sure if I can give advice on that.

Hello.

if possible can you please give me youtube channels or websites that have practice questions like the KNAT especially for the English portion. Additionally please explain the reading and writing portion of the exam in detail. thank you so much

Like I have stated before, the 2020 Kaplan book does a GREAT job to prepare you, it is very similar to the actual test. I did not watch any videos for help on the English portions.

hey! I am taking the Kaplan soon & I was wondering if you could go in-depth about the science portion. that seems to be the part everyone freaks out about.

Hi I am planning on taking the Kaplan nursing exam in April 2020. Do you have any tip on the math, and science section that could help me pass this test? That you in advance

Hello Firefox..

by the “new book,” (I know this thread is a few years old) but was the book yellow?
im taking the Kaplan in two weeks. I scored a 78% on the TEAS and I got the same exact score twice. I feel like I’m going to do so bad on the Kaplan too ?

did you think the TEAS was harder or easier?

thanks!
