Kaplan for NCLEX review

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello all!

I am scheduled for NCLEX Aug 29. So far I have only done Kaplan, since it was sort of forced on us from my school. I payed for it, so might as well use it.

Anyone here that only used Kapla, how helpful did you find it?

I am afraid to start looking into different resources, because I don't want to be all over the place with my studying. So far I just do questions, 25 at a time, and review them, procedures, diseases, meds that I don't remember when I review the questions I look them up and takes notes on them. So far that's my routine.

However with Kaplan there is so content review, was thinking about purchasing the NCSBS review, I saw their video on it, looks like they have a lot more information and resources than Kaplan, plus they are the ones that write the exam, also the 3 week review is only $50.

How do you feel about using multiple resources? Especially since I am less than 2 weeks away. My overall average on the Qbank in 68%, I'm just worried that I haven,t done much content review.

Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!!

I graduated from Kaplan also, I can tell you from all my resources I have used, Kaplan's (which are by Lippincott) have been the most difficult. I take my exam on the 27th :) Definitely do some by Saunders, it is GOOD to do multiple resources because you need to see different ways the questions are worded, but that is just my advice. I finished the qbank 66%, they say if you finish above 60% you are golden. Personally, I have already done over 4000 questions and I study at least 4 hours a night, EVERY night. Study your SATA in your content, the content is they key

Thanks, I will be borrowing a Saunders book from my classmate to go over as well.

You do have a point about different wording for the questions, my pet peeve is when values or procedures vary from source to source :banghead: Im motivated to finish kaplan qbank this weekend!

Thanks, good luck to you!!

Yes finish that evil qbank of unsureness that makes you question what 2 and 2 equals, rofl! It gets better, my scores on other resources started going way up after I did the qbank, it just tweeked my way of thinking. Yeah I see a lot of differentiation on lab values...so far though, I noticed that it's a MUST to learn the numbers and what they mean for metabolic acidosis and alkalosis, and respiratory acidosis and alkalosis. You will do fine!! just study study study!!
