Kaplan and the magic 65%...Is it necessary to test?

Published

I've been studying for NCLEX on my own for three months-- have been using Kaplan (online qbank and question trainers only--no classes) and various books... I'll have done about 5,000 questions by my test date. The only problem: my qbank cumulative score is only 63%. I only got a 62% on test 7, too. (68% on test 5 and 60% on test 6) I want (and need) to get this test over with, but am I walking into a failure? I did well in school, so I'm not sure why I can't seem to hit the 65% mark with Kaplan. I'd feel so much more confident if I could hit 65... I'm worried that this is going to mess with my head, and even if I *am* prepared I'll fail due to anxiety.

Anyone take NCLEX with similar scores on Kaplan online?

I must say I was on the verge of a major melt down/freak out until I read this thread. My cumulative qbank score is a 63% and just finished qtrainer 6 with a 64.5%. I'm scheduled to take my NCLEX next Monday (July 14th) and thought FOR SURE I was doomed. Major relief:up: My question to anyone with experience is what to do when you have no more unused qbank questions to use. I have been choosing the "all items" (with both incorrect and correct questions) and have been scoring 80-87%....I'm worried that this is giving me false confidence since I just "know" the answers from reviewing the rationales. Also does anyone have any suggestions on studying the week before the exam? I've been doing questions since May, have used up all my qbank questions as I mentioned with only qtrainer 7 left untouched. I've read/skimmed the entire blue course book but feel so unprepared!!!

This makes me feel a little better. I was just logging in to post a similar question and I saw this thread!

I finally took QT7 and got a 66%. My Qbank average is at 64% right now. Diagnostic test 62% and Readiness test at 66%.

But yet I just don't feel ready at all with these scores! I take my test in 2 days and I've been having serious second thoughts and major panic freakouts, but maybe after reading this thread it won't be so bad after all. Ugh!!!!

im very very sure YOU WILL pass!! looking at your score, you have a great chance...there are many many people who got scores lower than you..even in the 50s, that passed the nclex

watch...the moment u do the test...u'll say to urself, "why are there so many easy questions???" and dont scared be scared if many easy recall questions come up either...it does not mean ur doing bad

you know your material...ur well prepared

you'll do great!!! just pray and do your very best when its time.

i cant really speak for the qtrainer...

since i've only done the qbanks

i just put it on TUTOR MODE

and i did the 22+ sections about 2-3x...

paying attention to the rationales and see how they broke the exams down....

and its also good to use a supplement like saunders for subjects ur unsure of....its definitely more detailed than qbanks...i didnt bother with the cd....i was in no mood to do over 3,000 questions....nothing will retain in my head doing that.
