Kansas ICU pay

Published

Hi, I am brand new to this forum. My question is how much can an RN with over 20 years ICU experience make in Kansas. The las time I worked in Kansas was 6 years ago in Wichita. My daughter and her family are moving back to Kansas to raise the children, so here we go so we can be with the grandchildren. I heard that the high in Wichita is $24.50. I am making 33.00 in Vegas on dayshift. We were thinking about Lawarence, Emporia, Kansas City area. Anyone have any info about their pay? Also can anyone recomend good hospital that is also a pleasure to work in? Thank you very much for your replies.

I don't know what St. Luke's would offer you pay wise, but the climate is lovely for nurses here. St. Luke's just received Magnet status, and it is well deserved. Daily patient care is governed by the nurses. The advancement from RN i, ii, iii, iv is up the the individual RN, not by arbitrary measures. Unprofessional behavior is not tolerated, and that includes the physicians.

I would assume that the pay would be comparable to what you are currently receiving. It might be a couple dollars less, due to the cost of living differences. I was shocked when I found otu that I would be paid 2/hr less than what I received in Houston, but I also am surprised by how cheap housing is here.

If youa re coming from NV, the taxes might be a sticker shock for you as well.

Consider Cushing Memorial in Leavenworth, KS; Lawrence Memorial in Lawrence, KS; St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. Those are some of my top picks. Working as an agency nurse I've been to all of them and can say they were the best out of several dozen I've worked at.

Have you looked on the Careerbuilder website yet? Lots of listings for Kansas. Maybe that would help you. :) Good luck!
