HI

I wanna thank you all for the time and wealth of knowledge you share freely on this forum.

I am interested in learning more about the relationship between Kaiser in LA or SF and it's employees. Times are getting toucher economically and some moving around from my home State to California is a real possibility. I am a registered nurses with 7years in critical care so any info will be highly appreciated

I don't know if this is what you're asking for, but just an fyi anyways:

Kaiser in northern california and Kaiser in southern california are not part of the same system. They're comupters don't even share files for patients. The reason I know this is because my dad had a heart attack last year while we were in LA (he's okay now) and we have northern california Kaiser plans and it caused a lot of problems because they didn't have any of his information and it wasn't the same insurance.

The reason this would affect nurses who work at kaiser is because you can not transfer to a different Kaiser hospital from northern to southern california. Only north to north and south to south.

My mom works for Kaiser (as an advice nurse) and she loves it. They pay thier nurses really well, my mom makes $53/hr. (she has like 30 yrs of experience though)

Kaiser employes also have priority for jobs transferring/vacation time/etc all based on how long they have been working for Kaiser, more than any other hospital. For example, if my mom applied for a different job within kaiser, and then a person applied for that same job who began working at kaiser the day before my mom, out of the two, that other person would get the job because he/she has priority.

I donno if this was the kind of info you were looking for, but I hope it helps anyways.

You CAN transfer from Northern CA Kaiser to Southern CA Kaiser. We are all part of the same union-local 250-west.

I know this is true because I am a Northern Kaiser Employee (Roseville) and put in transfers to Southern CA Kaiser (Anaheim, Los Angeles, etc) and was offered positions.

Kaiser is all about years of service. The more years of service you have the better chance of getting jobs, etc.

hmm, i suppose i was wrong. this is what my mom has told me, she works for kaiser. i thought that you were not able to transfer, but if you applied to norcal after being in socal (or visaversa) it would look really good on your application that you worked for kaiser previously.

It is true that they do not carry the same information about their patients, because it caused us a lot of problems when we were down there during my dad's heart attack. Maybe they just have different computer systems for northern and southern kaisers? I donno, now i'm confused..
