Hello,
I'm starting this thread since I was unable to apply to the Summer cohort. Congrats to all of those that got offers extended!
I haven't heard of an official Fall Winter cohort. I have emailed Brandy to see if there will be one. I will post/update here as soon as I get replies.
I'm an internal candidate graduating this month. My interest is Oncology. Good luck to everyone!
Hi ya'll, got a call from their call center number. Tried to call back and the person who called said they wouldn't be able to help because they are a call center number. Is this a call to say my application was rejected? A little confused, never received a call for an interview. I am not a patient at Kaiser nor have Kaiser insurance.

Weird, definitely not a rejection call.. maybe they are still interviewing? Which locations did you apply to?
I've been trying to stay away from the blog for so long! After a long/short debate I took a position at another hospital to train in the specialty I want. I've been trying to avoid bedside, and yes, I know it sounds bad, but I'm trying to save my sanity and my back, so I chose service before organization in the hopes of coming back and skip medsurg/dou.
I do know that they hired one person for DOU in Anaheim, and I was told by the DA that another position could open. I think I was the only internal candidate, the other people were pretty much handpicked/referred. But I could be wrong.
If you feel like this cohort is tiny, you're absolutely right. The reality is that budget cuts and the upcoming possible strike has affected tremendously the hiring process. I never heard back from medsurg in Anaheim.
Basically positions for the new grad program are based on the department needs. They are not creating new positions for us new grads. So unless someone retire or leaves for any reason, no position can be offered. They could convert positions into new grad, but again that depends on department needs.
Don't feel discouraged, it is extremely hard out there for us newbies. Network a lot, try to join professional organizations and then apply back after a year or two. Or wait until the next cohort and see if more positions open. The uncertainty of the political and economical climate is playing against us. Good luck to all!
