Kaiser Permanente (San Francisco) NewGrad program

U.S.A. California

Hi all. I would like to inquire if anyone has done, or know of anyone who has done, the Kaiser permanente (San Francisco) NewGrad training program. The nurse recruiter of san francisco kaiser told me that the Med-Surg program would be 6 wks and I guess that sounds ok. Anyone has any opinions on this?

Anyone in here have worked at the San Francisco Kaiser hospital?? I have heard from several former nurses that they didn't like working for Kaiser. They said working for kaiser was just too hard--- it seems like their license was on the line like for ex. from unsafe staffing to pt ratio. When I floated I met another former kaiser nurse who did their newgrad program (2 yrs ago) but quit after 2 months working for them. She said she didnt get much training and support and just plainly didnt like it. She also said she was constantly bombarded also with unsafe number of patients (nurse to patient ratio).

I'm confused and dont know what to do.:o Should I go for Kaiser's newgrad training program? Has anyone worked for Kaiser in SF? How's the staff? The management?? Is Kaiser notoriously know for doing this unsafe nurse to pt staff ratio??

Thank you all for your time and response.

Funny, this article says the exact opposite ... that the ratios used to be high at Kaiser (SF) but not anymore.

If the ratios are too high, it's probably a violation of the new ratio law, which went into effect in January. Hopefully things have changed if these nurses worked there two or more years ago. But, then again, the press doesn't always report things accurately either.

Hi all. While looking for info about how it is to work for kaiser, I came to a website that talks about Kaiser in general, their actions, and how they treat their patients.:crying2: http://www.kaiserpapers.org/
