Hello
anyone Kaiser employees?
I currently gave my MSN in education and not looking for FNP certification. But Kaiser does not offer any post masters FNP study.
is it worth going through another MSN-FNP to have it paid by my employer or go find a post masters FNP and pay out of pocket?
is it wrong to go through another masters program vs a post masters program?
and if post masters is the way to go, any recommendations for distance learning??

Hi!
KP employee here too! I don't have any advanced degree like you yet, but hoping to pursue my MSN FNP from American Sentinel through the BHMT program. I guess I can't really answer your question but wanted to share for me personally, I'm going through the BHMT because it can practically pay for an entire program, depending on school and program. But I spoke with two diff universities that BHMT works with and they both told me I can sign up for up to $5250 worth of courses a year and take a break afterwards so I don't go over what Ben provides. I would like to finish within 28 months but if it means getting to go for practically free then I'm okay taking some breaks.
I am really interested in tech as well tho and almost went for MSN informatics but I have decided to pursue FNP first and get a post Master's in Informatics down the road. I hope I can find a school that offers a post-grad program like that.
I Hope you get figure out what works for you! ☺️

Hello pbj20! I was wondering if the MSN FNP program at American Sentinel allows you to finish your clinical hours at one single location with multiple NP preceptors or if their criteria are set to where you need to rotate to different facilities to complete all hours?

Hi AM35,
that is actually a really good question and I'm not for sure but I will ask my advisor next wk. She sent me a list of their clinical guidelines and they basically outline what each clinical course requires in terms of what type of patient population you're expected to care for, what type of providers can precept you, and what type of facilities are acceptable. I will let you know more once I hear from her next wk!
Thank you!

You are correct. I really don't want to pay out of pocket which leaves me no choice really but to extend the length of my program in order to complete the degree FULLY paid by kaiser.
What I shouldve done was gotten my FNP first and then a psot masters in education because while post masters FNP is no offered by BHMT, a post masters in education is!
but I can't turn the hands of time and financially I just cannot afforse 30-75K in attending a local school nearby for a postmasters FNP so ill stick with BHMT and hopefully I can stick it out!
I hope you get to work things out as well!
