Hi guys! Just wanted to make this for those who are applying to Cohort 9 for Kaiser New Grad Residency!
Hello everyone,
I will be finishing my RN ASN program next month. I am planning to apply to NorCal Kaiser Nursing Residency Program, mainly looking at Fresno or Modesto location. I have checked the website but they have not update the Application Date. Does anyone know if there will be one application cycle being open up sometimes soon in Oct- December 2024 there? Is there anyone in here got Fresno or Modesto location? Is it hard to get into Fresno location since I'm Local here.
Thanks!
Hi all,
I applied for the next cohort and was hoping to get some clarity! First off, was anyone in here hired without an official EKG course? I have my ACLS, NIHSS, and I also completed 3 out of my 4 nursing semesters at Kaiser hospitals and will be finishing nursing school with a 3.77 GPA. I will have an ADN so I am wondering if I am competitive enough..
Additionally, were any of you hired for 12 hour shifts? I was surprised to learn Kaiser in Northern California does 8 hour shifts. I'm located in SoCal and down here they do full 12's.
Last, any advice for the powerpoint if I do get an interview?? I would appreciate it and hope all of your residencies are going well!!

Hi there!
I'm in Santa Rosa and I was hired without any KP experience, special certifications, or EKG. Though helpful, you will still have to do their course and pass an EKG exam. Most sites hired 4-6 candidates and Santa Clara I believe had 12 hired a couple cycles ago. That's great you have those and experience at Kaiser!
I believe all but one site (I'm not sure which) is 8 hour shifts (7-3:30, 3-11:30, 11-7:30). So I would probably plan on that!
Your PowerPoint will address a rubric they give you where you get a chance to show your experiences, ambitions, etc! The residency hiring team made it really comfortable and emphasized that it's really getting to know about you and if you're a good fit. I think something that can help stand people out is when they share professional and personal experiences that contribute to their success as a nurse. Some people put in photos of themselves which I thought was cool!
I chose to make sure my presentation clearly answered the rubric questions which I think showed I can follow directions haha. Not sure exactly how they ended up choosing who, but I wish you the best of luck!:)
