Kaiser NorCal Nurse Residency Cohort 9 July 2024
Hi there! I'm in Santa Rosa and I was hired without any KP experience, special certifications, or EKG. Though helpful, you will still have to do their course and pass an EKG exam. Most sites hired 4-6 candidates and Santa Clara I believe had 12 hired a couple cycles ago. That's great you have those and experience at Kaiser! I believe all but one site (I'm not sure which) is 8 hour shifts (7-3:30, 3-11:30, 11-7:30). So I would probably plan on that! Your PowerPoint will address a rubric they give you where you get a chance to show your experiences, ambitions, etc! The residency hiring team made it really comfortable and emphasized that it's really getting to know about you and if you're a good fit. I think something that can help stand people out is when they share professional and personal experiences that contribute to their success as a nurse. Some people put in photos of themselves which I thought was cool! I chose to make sure my presentation clearly answered the rubric questions which I think showed I can follow directions haha. Not sure exactly how they ended up choosing who, but I wish you the best of luck!:)

Kaiser NorCal Nurse Residency Cohort 9 July 2024
Hi! I know it's late but maybe if people for later cohorts are looking, basically they have a timeline of events and jumped straight into candidates PowerPoints in a pre randomized order. Many of the interviewees got asked questions on how we care for ourselves, what is the long term goal with Kaiser, describe a time you had a disagreement with a coworker, describe a time when a patient was upset with you, etc alongside clarification questions of what you had already provided :)

New Graduate New Mom
Hi! I got my RN license over the Summer 2023. I was unable to begin an RN position immediately as I was in late pregnancy, and many programs/ jobs require full-time for a lengthy duration of time for orientation. I am currently part-time in a non-nursing related job and my child is now 4 months old. I absolutely adore them and don't want to miss out on anything. I want to begin my career as an RN but I feel stuck. As a new grad, I've found that programs are unlikely to accommodate schedules. Even applying to SNFs, they want rotating schedules which is difficult for my partner and I. Though I don't mind being at home, I feel that the longer I wait the harder it will be to get hired later on. I wish a part-time new grad position was available! This is just kind of a rant of time not working in my favor. But if anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Applying to Chamberlain Sacramento
Hi! We have had some staff transition to different departments/ leave. The most responsive method is by emailing [email protected] as of admissions I’m not sure when they decide but I do know of people getting acceptances later than they were expecting! Good luck :)

Perhaps my overall score, a combo of GPA and personal statement, were very close to those that got into the September cohort. They don’t really explain how they chose, but it could possibly be sort of like a wait list in the event that people don’t accept? I was really happy that they took high consideration of the personal statements, considering the majority of CA schools are heavily GPA based. The personal statement really covers the student as a whole and their potential, including the opportunity to explain why your grades may not be as high as others.

Thank you!! I’m super excited. I think it could be potentially that I am higher “ranked”. They said I could possibly get into the September cohort if some people deny their acceptance. Either way I’m not complaining ? Also, I opted to be reviewed for September 2020 without the HESI exam scores.

Hi all! I received a call on the 18th. I’ve been accepted into the January 2021 cohort. I know how crazy it is applying to nursing school in California, I’ve been trying for 3 years! GPA: 3.71 overall from my political science degree from Sonoma State University. (I want to later on assist in healthcare policy, and a lot of my research has been in the healthcare industry) 3.02 Science GPA (B+ Microbio, B+ Chemistry, B Anatomy, and B- Physiology) I’ve had over 3 years of CNA and Medication Technician experience. I really put my heart and story into my essay, which I think helped a lot. Good luck everyone!
