I am curious if anyone else has applied to Kaiser's New Grad program. I remember seing some posts about it, but I couldn't find them on a quick search. I just applied and wanted to know if anyone else applied and if they have heard anything. I spoke to a friend who said it is a 6-8 week prgram that will be starting in August and interviews will be in July. If anyone has heard anything else about it, please share!

Good luck to us all searching for that first RN job!

I applied to a few of there programs I know they had one in San Pedro, Downey and Anaheim I believe I have yet to hear anything from them. I got to it through a search through indeed.com

I Heard new grad for next year, i applied some but heard nothing yet, hopefully will received something soon. Wish everyone luck, cross my finger....

I spoke with a lady at my church in the Inland Empire are of So Cal and she stated they won't be hiring new grads. I called HR and they adivsed they were just completing an interest list.

I just got a phone call from the nurse recruiter regarding a group interview for their OR Training Program! I don't even think I applied, but somehow I'm on the list. I have my panel interview next Thursday. Anyone have any tips how I can stand out from the crowd? Also, I'm not even sure I want OR, but isn't it better than no job? I'm wondering if I do my first year in OR will that prevent me from moving into patient care on the floor?

Guess I'm just a bit excited to actually have an interview.

Sugarlips,

Just be yourself, be confident, and as questions after the interview. O.R. nursing is a totally different world. You learn different skills set. To answer your question I'm wondering if I do my first year in OR will that prevent me from moving into patient care on the floor?Let me give you a background first. In OR, usually they train you for 6-9 months. I heard kaiser trains you for up to a year and you're not allowed to take time off or vacation during the training. You go to a perioperative program course I think for 3 months and do clinicals too. It's like going back to nursing school for a year. So they will spend money on you ( training, class, salary). If OR nursing is not your passion, you'll have a hard time in OR coz they will know and sense if you're really there just because or you really want to be an OR nurse.

And I think yes you can move to patient care floors. Good luck!

Was this an offer for a job interview or just to see if there's any interest from Kaiser to start up a NG program? Thanks!

Not an interview, but a group interview to see if I qualify for the next round of the OR training program. There were both new grads and experienced nurses in there. All new to OR.
